“Rivers Alive” Chattahoochee Clean Up
Nets Over 2 Tons Of Litter -
Mayors Celebrate At Riverside Park
(Event co-sponsored by Keep Sandy Springs North Fulton Beautiful)

(From Left to Right)  - Sandy Springs Mayor Eva Galambos, Roswell Mayor Jere Wood and Alpharetta Mayor Pro-Tem Jim Payne celebrate the over two tons of litter collected from the Chattahoochee River area at “Rivers Alive”,  Georgia’s annual river clean up.   Almost 300 volunteers from school groups, civic organizations, Boy Scouts and other volunteers gathered Saturday September 30 to clean up litter from the Chattahoochee River watershed area and surrounding roads,  piling their bagged trash afterwards at Riverside Park.

The North Fulton Clean up is co-sponsored by Keep Sandy Springs North Fulton Beautiful,  Keep Roswell Beautiful,  the City of Sandy Springs,  the City of Roswell,  the City of Alpharetta and the Chattahoochee Nature Center.

Rising from the litter is Captain Planet, mascot for the Captain Planet Foundation, which encourages children’s environmental activities.

Partners include: CH2M HILL, Harry’s Farmers Market, Georgia Power Company, Georgia Beverage Association, SuperTARGET, Environ, Russell Engineering, High Country Outfitters, Starbucks and Honda.
